MBSA Grass Roots Cause Marketing™ - Pfizer Animal Health

Animal Shelters had a universal need - and a unique capability: Shelters need medicine for the pets they care for, but they have precious few dollars to spend. But, shelters do have extraordinary public relations capabilities - many are cherished institutions in the community.

pfizer shelter

Pfizer Animal Health had a business objective: Reach pet owners, as they acquired their pets in shelters, with educational material promoting their flea/tick medicine, Revolution®. And, generate positive publicity in the shelter's surrounding community of pet lovers, veterinarians and valuable supporters.

revolution

MBSA put together a "WIN WIN" Program: MBSA made it possible for Pfizer to donate doses of Revolution to a network of 500 shelters that MBSA managed with an efficient data base and customer relationship approach. Shelters registered to get free medicine to use on the pets in their shelter in return for making commitments to publicize the donation to adopters and in their communities.

The result: Three years of "win - win" success. Pfizer gladly donated millions of dollars worth of medicine for three straight years, because they received extraordinary value in the form of public thanks and endorsements from shelters coast to coast. And, tens of thousands of shelter pets found homes because they were healthier and more adoptable than ever, free of ticks and fleas.
